Arise the rare and endangered Kāpiti Island kākā phœnix - in a cloud of fire and smoke she arises from the ashes to reclaim her land. Featuring the North Island kākā.

Exhibited in: "Birds on a Wire" solo exhibition (April, 2018), NZAFA Canvas 200 (Jul, 2017). Published in: Artists Down Under (Oct, 2017).

Free shipping worldwide. Price includes 15% GST for New Zealand sales.

kākā, North Island kaka, Nestor meridionalis septentrionalis, bush parrot, brown parrot, kawkaw

In my "Flights of fancy", imagination takes over and roles are reversed - what would the curious and intelligent kākā parrots do in post-human and post-apocalyptic worlds? With steampunk elements and leftover human detritous, our courageous and curious kākā explore and adapt to their new world.
10% of proceeds from this picture go to Zealandia EcoSanctuary to support their conservation efforts.
