Filling the air with melodious bell-like calls, the korimako or bellbird is an endearing songbird beloved by people visiting or living near native bush. In Wellington, korimako are occasionally seen in our gardens (we have a fella in Ngaio who seeks out our bottlebrush), but are not at all common. This handsome gentleman with beseeching eyes like the finest rubies, was photographed at Zealandia EcoSanctuary, where many were translocated but a sustaining population never fully established. The beautiful tūī predominated instead. I'm so happy to finally have a lovely korimako to share with you! This piece was first created for a commission.

This fine-art print comes on archival heavyweight fine art paper. Each print is hand-signed and editioned.

  • Small 18x18cm, edition of 50
  • Medium 28x28cm, edition of 20
  • Large 40x40cm, edition of 10

Korimako are also known as bellbird, makomako, and Anthornis melanura
