[Updated x2] "A Hidden World (kākāpō)" wins President's Award - NZAFA

Delighted to announce that "A Hidden World (kākāpō)" won the President's Award at the Matariki Exhibition at the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts (and is now SOLD)! The show opens 23 June and runs through to 23 July, 2023.

The President's Award certificate

This is an extra special piece too - it's an extra-large 80x80cm print on Chromalux metal, limited edition 3 of 5. It's beautifully framed in this wide gold molding and looks amazing. The beautiful thing with Chromalux is no glass is needed. The matte surface can be touched and wiped, is impervious to moisture and resistant to UV.

I've always wanted to exhibit an extra-large piece at the NZAFA, and finally I took the plunge. If you love kākāpō art, take a look at the other print options here.

Congratulations I love your framing against the normal black or white. And making a multiple image believable

Thanks Grahame! I love experimenting with framing – a number of customers had chosen gold for their kākāpō pieces and it really suits these rock stars of the bird world.

Which bird raised the most in 2024?

    Judi Lapsley Miller

Most of my art featuring endangered wildlife includes a 10% donation to a wildlife organization. The economic downturn continues, but we still raised nearly $3300 for the birds!
